at the moment the gallery is broken. ill try get it back before the end of the day, otherwise i might forget about it.. starting to move the website from my home server to a new server hosted elsewhere with better bandwidth and such.. but its oging to take time as im just too lazy, but for now all should still work properly (except the gallery of course).
the music player of choice for me would have to definatly be Exaile. and thats the end of that!
after being soo proud of no muchups for 45 days, which turned into 48 days. (i think) the server fell over and i had to resort to pressing reset. made me mad, but i lost all remote control over it and the hdd’s were going nuts. chattering away and making an uncomfortable sound. but atleast its working now..
comments are now turned off., until i repair my broken email server. then ill allow comments only for registered people.
Today i finished making a few changes on the server,. I swapped a 200g drive for a 250g drive, which took two days to complete, moving 10 gig at a time as space was very limited.. so now the server is as follows
20GB - system
200GB - downloads (drivers, applications, games, backups)
200GB - storage (tv & movies)
250GB - music (communal)
took long enough, but its finaly been completed, and in turn i have moved the website directory to a more secure location so it cannot be tampered with (crosses dingers),.- also has more space available for any large files i want to host for myself.. and thinking of configuring symbolic links so i can access anything on my server from remote.. probably wont get around to doing that tho, ill stick with ftp/ssh goodness. also installed debian etch on my laptop in place of ubuntu hardy, seems a fair bit quicker without all the fluff and takes up less space standard.. pretty minimal install which is good. so in the end it was probably a better option. quite afew little differences with debian/ubuntu.,. which 99% would all be configuration related and whatever seeing as ubuntu is built on debian or whatever, so i can still get things done how i want and configure its tits off to suit my needs. so all i have to do now is change some settings with the automatic backup to go into the right places again and all should be fine and dandy once again. next on the list is.. i dont know, but ill think of something!
iv upgraded wordpress to the latest 2.5.1 or something like that, wasnt taking much notice, just downloaded and extracted it and it seems to still be working properly. another thing is the server has an uptime of 43 days which is pretty good. seeing as i would usualy break something once a week and have to restart the thing.. but luckily no power outages, crashing, midnight furniture moving.. its all online still and working just as it should be. which is quite good considering.. but now i must do some cleaning, seriously low on diskspace atm.. so hopefuly i can free some up without loosing too much crap i want to keep.
getting too much of the stuff. might disable comments i guess, not that its used much, except for the odd comment.. seems kind of useless, so when i have more time ill make the effort and perform 2 mouse clicks.. but for now i must continue working and trying not to fall asleep.
me and jackie have been together for 8 years as of today.. isnt that a milestone!?
iv been having soo much trouble with my desktop and hardy that if reverted back to gutsy.. and the laptop had 3 failed gentoo installs and i now reverted that back to gutsy too. its turned out good in the end, but my god its pissed me off getting to this point, so far soo good and its all working good again, so it will stick.
managed to squeeze some time to install hardy again, nice and fresh.. its installed, doing some updates now and going thru and setting it up the way i want.. so hopefuly more productivity at work now.. and my super secret special project is coming along nicely. more on that later. time for a beer and relaxation.
**update, same situation. the updates fucked it… yet again! another 400+ meg of updates wasted and not to mention the time! fuck it! and fuck this moth on my screen! ill wait til its released and out of beta.. windows XP it is until then.
